VW T5 T6 BOLT ON AWNING RAIL
LWB or SWB – LEFT or RIGHT SIDE or INTERCHANGEABLE
This fantastic awning rail is a single piece of aluminium which is discreet – in fact out of sight – yet smart looking with chamfered ends to stop your awning snagging when feeding it in. Each rail takes a considerable amount of time to finish by hand to the highest standard, ensuring a perfect fit and sleek look.
Simply bolted on to the T5/T6 gutter using the existing bolt holes, the rail is supplied with additional Rubber Washers so you can use your existing bolts and rubber washers and sandwich the rail between the washers. It only takes a few minutes to fit and, if desired, remove again and can be stored in the supplied plastic storage tube.
The best, most discreet and easiest to use awning rail on the market which will give the ultimate in awning attachment. Quick and easy to use whilst holding your awning onto your van in the most secure and weatherproof way possible.
Whilst fitting is super easy, if you’d prefer me to do it for you or you wish to collect it, I can offer a fitting service – please call 07900600886 to arrange.
This awning rail is proving to be highly popular, with fantastic feedback and avoids the pitfalls associated with other methods of attachment. Namely: pole and clamp which uses suction cups and metal rods with the risk of them blowing off and damaging your van; tying your awning over the top of your van and risking the straps rubbing and scuffing your paintwork and letting the weather in; or J rails which only allow the use of the Figure of 8 to be clipped to the J section, inevitably blowing off when it gets windy.
WHAT DOES INTERCHANGEABLE MEAN?
If you wish to have the option to mount your rail on either side of the vehicle or swap it periodically, it is possible to have a rail which can be used on either side. The difference is that you will have both ends shaped like the front end and an extra set of holes to allow the rail to be rotated to the other side of the vehicle and still have the channel facing the correct way. This does not effect the usability of the rail whatsoever….alternatively you could always go for two rails, one each side…why not have an awning on one side and a sun canopy on the other?
HOW TO ATTACH AN AWNING OR SUN CANOPY
A sun canopy with a 6mm or 7mm beading will feed directly into the rail in seconds. In fact the inside of the channel would take up to a 9mm beading with the open part of the C being just 4mm, standard awnings and canopies won’t pull out when it is windy unlike on some competitors rails. The beading on an awning would also feed in in the same way whilst you are putting it up it if you do not intend to drive away – however to give a drive away capability you will need the Figure of 8 sections and Kador Bead.
To be able to drive away from your awning simply erect your awning and position it next to your vehicle so that the tunnel is lined up and the correct distance to the awning rail. Attach the tunnel by simply feeding the Kador Bead into the awning rail and connecting this to the beading in the awning using the Figure of 8 strips. Now you can fine tune the positioning of the awning and peg it out. Then simply mark up the position of the front and back wheel on the drivers side. (I do sell runway strips for this or you may wish to use Glow Pegs or just a stone or similar marker). This will enable you to find exactly the same position each time to re-attach the tunnel with the Figure of 8 strips, as described above. To drive away, simply pull the Kador Bead out and you’re ready to drive off in seconds.
DO YOU HAVE ROOF RACKS OR A POP TOP ROOF?
If you have roof racks or rails I can do a bespoke modification to the awning rail so that it will be compatible with them and both can be fitted in the gutter channel together. The Kador Bead then feeds around the foot of the roof rack and back into the awning rail channel. If you are interested in this please find this as a separate product in the shop by clicking here.
If you have a pop top roof, most of them tend to use the gutter channel for the strut and hinges which makes the possibility of using the Bolt on Rail less feasible, although in certain circumstances I may be able to do a similar modification to those I do for roof racks. A better option generally is the the other awning rail I do which glues and screws on and comes as a self fit kit with everything needed to fit it (Stainless Steel Screws, Bonding Sealing Agent, Masking Tape, Latex Gloves, Alcohol Wipes and Instructions). As this rail is so discreet with a profile of just 12mm wide, it can be hidden underneath the pop top in most circumstances or fitted outside of it if you prefer. Please find this as a separate product in the shop by clicking here.
DELIVERY TIMES AND POSTAGE CHARGE
This awning rail is made to order and as this is also a bespoke service, can take a few days or maybe a little longer at peak times for me to make. Delivery is made by courier and therefore a signature is required. It can be posted to a work address or similar though. Please ensure the most suitable delivery address is entered at checkout. The delivery charge is £16.99 and will not cost anything extra if you have additional items and accessories. Whilst the delivery may be higher than if you were buying short sections, the compromise in looks and usability of having shorter sections is just simply not worth the slightly cheaper postage. Collection is also possible by arrangement.
